Crossing Darkness takes viewers on a journey that follows 102 astronauts as they traverse the abyss between Earth and Mars, aboard the largest spacecraft ever built. Their mission is to spend 4 years on the surface and lay the groundwork for the first permanent colony. Among the crew is a celebrated war hero and trusted third in command, Elizabeth Grayson, who’s ambition drives her to treachery and murder as she works to grasp her place in history.

 

The first season of Crossing Darkness delivers 24, 7-10 minute episodes over 12 weeks. The story is told from the perspective of the ship's AI via voyeuristic video from the perspective of onboard cameras, juxtaposed with cinematic, direct-address monologues from various characters. The show is delivered alongside a series of immersive, content-rich websites and social media, with characters interacting with viewers “back home on Earth” via social media and site-embedded blogs and vlogs.
