What day is it?!

Some of our eagle-eyed followers may have noticed that the countdown clock to launch our crowdfunding clock seems to have re-set and rolled back by about 30 days. Do not be concerned, you haven't fallen through time or anything crazy like that.

In short: we were looking at some of the deadlines we came up back in May, and realized that while we could have hit those earlier milestones, we wouldn't have been happy with the work, and if we're putting out work we're unhappy with, what's the point? As with any ambitious creative endeavor, sometimes the timeline has to be moved around in the best interests of creating and delivering the highest quality production possible.

We could have just rolled back the clock and most people wouldn't have noticed, but that wouldn't be fair to you all, and we plan on keeping all of our backers and supporters in the loop throughout the entire production process and that includes this crucial pre-production phase. We've updated our production timeline page as well to reflect the new estimated deadlines.

That being said, lets go into a little more detail:

Craig Putman in our test short flashback scene

As you've seen through our various social media channels, at the beginning of this month, we shot a short that takes place in the universe, before they leave for the mission. It depicts our main character, Elizabeth Grayson, finishing a briefing and then getting confronted with images of a more violent time in her past, triggering a flashback to her time in the army.

While we don't anticipate relying particularly heavily on flashbacks as a storytelling element in this project, it was something we wanted to play with as we stretched our creative muscles and got ourselves immersed in this universe.

That piece is still being edited and tweaked, but having seen the rough edit, we're excited for where its going and the potential the universe has as a whole.

About a week ago, we auditioned some actors for another one of our characters, Cullen, who was a major part of creating the ship's artificial intelligence, HR/LE. In mid July, we're going to film a short on part of the set that we're building out of pocket, that will showcase some of the character relationships, as well as the tone and feel of our set and the series as a whole. We'll keep you updated on that as we get into production on that.

Teaser trailer coming soon

We've also recently starting working on the video elements of our soon to be released teaser trailer. We've got a script written for it and Robert is working on recording the audio needed for that. We hope to have that online sometime in the next couple weeks. Stay tuned!

Indiegogo Logo

And finally, one of the main reasons we're pushing back a little - we have officially decided to crowdfund Crossing Darkness through the Indiegogo platform, and we needed to re-evaluate our promotional campaign to have the greatest reach and impact for that platform. We'll keep you all up to date regularly through social media, but please also sign up for our email list to get the first notifications of when we get our page up and when we finally launch the crowdfunding campaign.

We look forward to bringing Crossing Darkness to life, and we can't do it without your generous support. We want to make it a project you'd be proud of backing and sharing with your friends and family. Share this website, tell everyone about the project and together we can bring Crossing Darkness to you in Summer 2017.
