Every shoot is a learning experience...
As many of you may have guessed by now, we ran into a couple unexpected issues as we wrapped up post on The Corridor proof of concept piece, as well as our crowdfunding video.
Along with some scheduling issues (work, school, etc) that made it nearly impossible to make our campaign launch deadline, we also discovered a couple issues with using the location we’d had hoped to use. In a nutshell, our access to that location was going to become more limited than believed, and certain unforeseen traits of the location itself made any “on-set” recorded audio all but unusable. Without going too much deeper into the nitty gritty details, all of the available options to resolve those probleams would increase our anticipated budget almost twofold either in production or post.
Every shoot is a learning experience, no matter your level of expertise.
So, for the moment, we’re winding down development of Crossing Darkness. We’re not giving up on this story though! We do plan to explore our available options, either finding the funding to do it as imagined, or scaling back the story so that it can be made for a more reasonable budget at first. Either way, we all put a lot of energy into this world and we don’t want to see it drift quietly into the black of space and you can be sure you’ll hear from us again eventually.
However, in the meantime, we all have other (slightly more immediately realistic to produce) independent projects we’re working toward. Please follow us on our own social media channels for further updates on those projects.
